Routine Dental Visits
Dental cleanings, screenings, and exams are essential for good oral health. These routine visits to the dentist help prevent oral diseases and keep your teeth and gums healthy.
Cleaning
During a dental cleaning, a dental hygienist will use special tools to remove plaque and tartar buildup from your teeth. Plaque is a sticky film of bacteria that can build up on your teeth if you don’t brush and floss regularly. If plaque is not removed, it can harden into tartar, which can only be removed by a dental professional. Getting rid of plaque and tartar helps prevent cavities and gum disease.
The dental hygienist will also polish your teeth to remove surface stains and make them look brighter and cleaner. They may also floss your teeth to remove any plaque or debris between your teeth. After we clean your teeth, Dr. Grapevine will examine your mouth for signs of cavities, gum disease, and other oral health issues.
Screenings
In addition to cleanings, we offer dental screenings. During a dental screening, the dentist examines your mouth, teeth, and gums for signs of oral diseases or other problems. They may also take X-rays to check for cavities or other issues that may not be visible during a visual exam.
One of the most essential parts of a dental screening is checking for signs of oral cancer. We will examine your mouth for any signs of abnormal growths or lesions that could be cancerous.
Exams
During a dental exam, we will check your teeth, gums, and mouth for any signs of decay, gum disease, or other issues. We will also perform a thorough cleaning of your teeth to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
In addition to checking for oral health issues, our dentist will also check for signs of other health problems that may affect your oral health. Certain medical conditions, such as diabetes or heart disease, can increase your risk of developing gum disease. By monitoring your oral health during regular dental exams, we detect any potential health issues early. Then, we can recommend appropriate treatment.
What is an Occlusal Analysis?
During this examination, Dr. Grapevine will examine how your teeth come together when you bite down. He will look for bite problems, including uneven tooth wear or problems with how your teeth fit together. He may use articulation paper to see how your teeth make contact. After this analysis, Dr. Grapevine will create a treatment plan to treat your bite problems.
Dr. Grapevine has the experience to treat problems like orthodontic issues or TMJ disorders. He will work with you to create a custom plan.
Your First Vist
Before your first visit, we will get your X-rays and dental history from your previous office. At your first visit, we will ask you to bring your insurance card and information so we can process your insurance information. You should also bring a valid photo ID. Please also bring a list of your current medications and let us know if you have any allergies or current medical conditions.
Your first visit will mirror regular routine dental visits. We may take X-rays as a basis for comparison with earlier X-rays. Our team will also examine your smile. Your child’s first dental visit will often include a visual exam and cleaning.
